RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK –WeWork, the global provider of shared business space and related services, is offering $600,000 to “creators” as it gears up for the opening of locations in Raleigh and Durham.
The grants are being offered through its Creator Awards, which will come to WeWork in Nashville for the first time in Nashville.
Applications from North Carolina and across the southeast will open in July with four different categories:
- Performing Arts Award: For entertainers and groups with a unique point of view ($18k to $72k awarded)
- Community Giver Award: For those making a difference in their local community ($18k to $72k awarded)
- Nonprofit Award: For charitable organizations big and small ($72k to $130k awarded)
- Business Venture Award: For entrepreneurs and companies with fresh ideas ($130k to $360k awarded)
Creator Awards is a WeWork initiative focused on “recognizing and rewarding the creators of the world,.”
The firm has awarded $16 million in Creator Awards funding across 173 winners with more than 170 jobs being created as a a result.
Meanwhile, WeWork continues to gear up to open new offices in Raleigh and Durham.
“We will open WeWork One City Center in Durham this fall (September) with two floors and more than 1,000 desks,” a company spokesperson tells WRAL TechWire.
“We plan to open WeWork One Glenwood in Raleigh May of 2019 with three floors and more than 1,300 desks.”
WeWork also is already hiring to staff each office. Job openings are available online.
